Over 30 cars and trucks drove thru the streets of Nonantum to celebrate Columbus Day. The parade finished at the post 440 parking lot where a crowd of over 80 people gathered for their annual Columbus Day celebration. Virginia (papa) Gardner, president of the Italian American Alliance, national chapter, along with Terry Sauro, IAA member, led the ceremonies, which included six year old Avery Johnson reciting the pledge of allegiance, a reading of President Biden’s 2022 proclamation for Columbus Day was read by Nick Pasquarosa. An inspiring Columbus Day message was given by the honorable state representative, Jeffery Turco. Other speakers included, Paul Pasquarosa, governor councilor Marlyn Devaney, Tom Mountain, council for the national chapter of the IAA, Al Cecchinelli. Refreshments were served at the closing of the ceremony.
